How does moving to Codehaus.org as opposed to another project in Apache solve this problem?

it doesn't, but it might keep it from occurring. Remember, I just gave an imaginary example (imaginary on purpose, of course) of some complex social issues that are not easily explained, predicted, avoided, analyzed, or solved. There's only best efforts in general directions.

Won't you have the same issues? Or is the
understanding that if ECM/Fortress moves to Codehaus there will be no
expectation of changing the Avalon-Framework?

I have this idea that people will understand that there's a bit of a gap between a project that is not hosted at apache and one that is, whereas otherwise the situation would be more complicated. All projects @ apache are basically "equals" (and there's these vague ideas like "lets eat our own dogfood" and similar stuff), but this of course cannot be said for all projects in general.

I am not entirely sure what the problem is here, but I do have the impression that after an initial bit of mudslinging in some directions, development of phoenix coming to a halt over here and phoenix getting a new life somewhere else, in the end, there is now reduced controversy and a lot more mutual respect with regard to phoenix.

People are funny things. You can't rationalize everything. But distance, perceived or real, can often help keep things cool and civil.
