Subject: Re: [PROPOSAL] The Future of Avalon Repository

My only concern is with Depot's future. Have they decided if they're

going

to shoot for a TLP? Or be part of Jakarta Commons or Apache Commons?

That

would really be my only concern with this move.

+1 perhaps we should talk to Nicola to determine where things are going. Personally I'd be totally on board with this and willing to contribute both to the code and community at the Depot project.

Current leaning is towards a TLP, for a number of reasons. Is TLP a pro or a con?

TLP a pro. Better visibility.

However, I'd be interested to see how this would work with the existing ASF
Repository project [1] which hasn't had much activity lately I believe.
IMHO it would be wise to see a single TLP in charge of both the repository
and related repository projects (Depot, Avalon-Repository, Repository
Browsers (gui or web), ... ).

The repository project isn't a project (ASAIU) - its a list established by the board. IMO Depot should be taking charge of this area and as part of that process should involve exiting incubator sooner rather than later.

Steve.
