I think Repository was an effort by disparate folks to work on a 'standard
for an ASF repository'. We made good progress but could never quite get
enough folks able to agree on a specification. Folks went separate ways to
(IMHO) gain valuable "hands on" experience, and I think this is necessary in
order to have the standard be worthwhile. As they say, "Experience is worth
10 IQ points"...

I think that (as I know them) the various endeavours has agreed to come back
to an ASF Repository standard at some point in the future. I think that
makes perfect sense.
