I agree with Sean, we still have a lot of people using the 1.7.x line and may
certainly have another compatible release.
Sebb, what would you like to see in terms of documentation? The releases page
just lists all of the releases and their dates. The downloads are organized as
1.7.7, 1.8.0, and stable (1.7.7). This is also consistent with our versioning,
where bumping the minor version signals a breaking API change. I would normally
expect a transition period as Sean is arguing for. Maybe we need to more
clearly state what branches are active on the releases page? Clarify versioning
there? Just let us know what would have made this more clear.
