Hello Geospatial, I’m really excited to announce that Baremaps has been accepted in the Incubator.
As stated in the proposal [1], Baremaps is a toolkit and a set of infrastructure components for creating, publishing, and operating online maps. In addition to learning the Apache Way our goals are: - to grow a community and attract new contributors; - to release a customizable attribution-free map schema and style; - to publish a tiled world map in different formats (mvt, png, 3D Tiles Next, etc.); - to release additional services and components (IP to location, location search, etc.). Do not hesitate to check the status of our ongoing effort to create vector tiles based on OpenStreetMap data [2]. Our main challenge will be to form and grow a community around the project. Do not hesitate to share your thoughts here or in our dev mailing list [3]. We are eager to learn more about your use cases and to join the Geospatial community at Apache.
