One thing to keep in mind, though:
RIS and Refer are both richer data formats than either BibTeX or the BibTeX-based OpenOffice (and yes, Bibus).
Depending on what type of records you have, you may lose data. If you have any legal sources, for example, they'll just end up as "miscellaneous" types.
