So I find this confusing.
This is one weird, weird open source project. Bruce and others are
doing great work, but everything always seems to be waiting for
nameless Sun people.
Am I crazy to expect this mysterious 'Sun Programmer' to post to the
list him/herself, put the code in an open repository and start
collaborating with all comers? The openness of the code is one of
the best advertisements one could make. If it is all written `behind
the Sun wall' again, then it seems unlikely ever to be collaboration-
ready.
Probably I'm crazy.

A followup to my post the other day about access to cvs for

It seems that what the Sun developer in question has in mind is to
actually prototype adding support for the new citation coding that
has been approved for OpenDocument, which is really at the center
of what we need to do. As he explains it:
Implementing the new citation element in xmloff (the module ---
stands
for XmlOffice and not Xml off :-)) is an routine task. I want to
do it
together with your programmer, so that he can learn how xmloff works.
Here's the problem, however: this works needs to happen in C++, and
he indicated such a developer would need "strong" skills in the
language.
I don't really think we have anyone with those qualifications
anymore, but if someone out there does and is interested, or knows
someone who might be, let David and I know please.
We may have to advertise for this sort of help, because this is a
nice opportunity here to work with a Sun engineer on this and came
some experience.
