The elevation of SRU over SRW is mostly for ease of documentation. It's easier to describe the rules for XML over HTTP than it is to describe the rules for Objects over SOAP over XML over HTTP. Both are still very valid uses, it's just that SRU is easier to implement, understand and interact with. The revision still has some typos and thinkos as it is still in the process of the proverbial comb. Feel free to email me off list if you discover any :) Thanks.
