Hey all. I manage the Kite team at Cloudera. I just wanted to chime in and say
that I'd love to see Kite included in Bigtop. We renamed it from the CDK to
indicate that it's not Cloudera-specific, and really a community project. We
are very interested in non-Cloudera contribution, in all forms, to Kite (and
have taken them in the past). The project is open to, and interested in, giving
community members commit bit on Kite. We're also fully committed to the ASF
license for Kite. Kite will never depend on proprietary code.
I understand the consternation with including support for non-ASF projects in
Bigtop, but I want to work with everyone to do what we can to make this
possible. I think the benefits of inclusion outweigh any perceived risk, and
hope that previous "spirited debates" don't preclude the consideration of new
projects.
