Other than being designed around the same internal architecture, they're 2
different systems. Accumulo has distinct processes for the master, tserver /
tabletserver (analagous to regionserver), gc, monitor, logger, tracer, logger
(write-ahead logs). There's also a different initialization process. As a
result of that, the init scripts and all the package metadata are very
different. It's also a different shell. At that point it's really no more
similar than any other 2 components in the stack.
I will post a patch today or later this week so you can see what I mean. I've
been able to get working packages on a patched version of Accumulo with heavily
modified configs. I'm having some troubles using Accumulo 1.5.0 and HDFS from
Bigtop 0.7.0 and starting from the "example" configurations provided, but I
suspect the required changes will not affect the packaging significantly...
