It would be ideal that it works for all minor point releases. (Everything in the 2.6.x) It's totally fair that you need to add extra plumbing to support for 2.7.x. And I'm not expert but it feels like this is reasonable. I mean if you could just grab the management pack and use it to install on an existing Ambari-2.6.1 there is huge value. You could then do a rip and replace of specific services. Like if you wanted to use the release from bigtop that has "fresher" apache builds than say HDP or CDH. (Yes, we want to make sure we don't miss dependencies, but I'm saying they're would likely be some people that would appreciate the choice.) Don't get me wrong, I like that the fresh install from BigTop Ambari could finally deploy something that isn't HDP. That's great.
