Dear John,
Welcome to this list and project!

>Dear All

>My PhD research is finding ICT solutions for SME's (small to medium
>enterprises) and including them in the strategic business planning
>process. In doing this I work with a number of SME's and employ
>opensource solutions.
>
>I speak at many events outling ICT solutions to business and am as you
>may guess an advocate of open source solutions. I am happy to share
>the results of my research which is being done in conjunction with the
>Linux User and Developer magazine and the UK government.

Great! Thanks, too.

>
>Future works include a joint project with business link ( a UK
>government project) to work with SME's to provide ICT solutions. I am
>also working with other agencies to distribute and promote opensource.
>
>I have one project at the moment which is a case study of a firm of
>accountants who have no experience in ICT though successful as a

>be of benefit to the wider OO community. My premise is that by

>openoffice. What I feel makes this study useful is they have no
>preconceptions of MS office so OO will be taken at face value.

>As an academic I have a format for recording my work with them. Are
>there any particular points that the community would like me look out
>for? Do you have a format for your case study methodology?

I think Justin suggested some points already, but the most obvious ones
are the best ones: usage, problems, costs, advantages, and potential.
But, to be honest, I'm much more interested in what you might suggest.
