Now that we have effectively migrated to this mailing list, and Tristan has
closed off the old mailing list [1], I like to bring up other communication
channels.

The preferred way of communicating is through this list. This is where
decisions are made and recorded. "If it didn't happen on the list, it
didn't happen". Please make sure to bring discussions that are relevant to
the project back to this list.

A number of folks are active on IRC, the #buildstream channel on GIMPNet (
irc.gnome.org) to be precise. Logs are available [2].

While the ASF doesn't host IRC infrastructure, there are some commonly used
channels:
- Slack [3]
- IRC via Freenode [4][5]

I'd like to gauge preference, and gather reasons why a certain technology
is harder to access in practice.

Looking forward to your feedback. I'll leave this thread open for 7 days,
and will then tally up the results.

Cheers,

Sander
