Hi all, Before the release of 4.0-RC1, I'm wondering if we should address the version conflicts first that I described in https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CAMEL-19474.
It is not clear to me what is our policy regarding the third-parties' version used in Camel, do we keep our freedom or do we decide to always align the versions used with the dependencies of SpringBoot https://docs.spring.io/spring-boot/docs/current/reference/html/dependency-versions.html and/or Quarkus. I mean, for example, SnakeYAML has been upgraded to 2.0 in Camel but the upgrade will be done in SB 3.2 planned for July. Does it mean that we need to downgrade, keep it as it is, or wait for SB 3.2? Another example is the decision to upgrade Kafka to 3.5 (https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CAMEL-19464) while SB 3.1 still uses 3.4, the upgrade is also planned for SB 3.2 Lately, I wanted to upgrade some third-party libraries due to some CVEs, but it has been decided not to do it to align with SB dependencies. So to be honest, I'm lost in our policy, if someone can clarify, it would be very helpful. Thank you in advance, Regards, Nicolas ________________________________ From: Claus Ibsen <claus.ib...@gmail.com> Sent: Tuesday, June 20, 2023 11:12 To: dev@camel.apache.org <dev@camel.apache.org> Subject: Re: Release 4.0-RC1 For RC1 then we need to wait until friday as we want to upgrade to latest SB that is to be released on thursday On Tue, Jun 13, 2023 at 10:54 AM Andrea Cosentino <anco...@gmail.com> wrote: > +1 > > Il giorno mar 13 giu 2023 alle ore 10:41 Claus Ibsen < > claus.ib...@gmail.com> > ha scritto: > > > Hi > > > > Gregor is cutting the 3.14.9 and 3.20.6 patch releases this week. > > And therefore it would be good to get RC1 done so we can cut this release > > next week. > > The community is waiting for the v4 release and it would be good to have > it > > released before August. > > > > > > > > On Wed, May 24, 2023 at 2:38 PM Claus Ibsen <claus.ib...@gmail.com> > wrote: > > > > > Hi > > > > > > I think within a few weeks we should close down and get the code base > > > ready for cutting RC1. > > > After the RC1 release we should then focus on stability and avoid doing > > > majar big changes. > > > > > > Then we could look at a 4.0 GA in July. > > > > > > Any thoughts? > > > > > > > > > -- > > > Claus Ibsen > > > ----------------- > > > @davsclaus > > > Camel in Action 2: > > > https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.manning.com/ibsen2__;!!CiXD_PY!RnabhUlfKqgMZAQOgF8HqOMMZGb--F2e5dvn0MXZZ9owmn1VnZWywolpR_MXqMARERiQeIpqSelzxAuKsqD2$ > > > > > > > > > -- > > Claus Ibsen > > ----------------- > > @davsclaus > > Camel in Action 2: > > https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.manning.com/ibsen2__;!!CiXD_PY!RnabhUlfKqgMZAQOgF8HqOMMZGb--F2e5dvn0MXZZ9owmn1VnZWywolpR_MXqMARERiQeIpqSelzxAuKsqD2$ > > > -- Claus Ibsen ----------------- @davsclaus Camel in Action 2: https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.manning.com/ibsen2__;!!CiXD_PY!RnabhUlfKqgMZAQOgF8HqOMMZGb--F2e5dvn0MXZZ9owmn1VnZWywolpR_MXqMARERiQeIpqSelzxAuKsqD2$ As a recipient of an email from the Talend Group, your personal data will be processed by our systems.
