Hiya, I don't think that anyone disagrees that the issue of utmost importance for the Store is fast and simple. The work done to date on JCS, and now EHCache highlights that there are some fairly well developed caching systems out there. Most of them fulfil the first requirement, some of them don't necessarily meet the second ;)
As I said before, the advantage of JCS is that it provides an interface to many different store types - which greatly enhances the functionality of Cocoon. I don't think there's much point in developing yet another cache library when there are lots out there that do the job well :) (I guess that's why JISP was chosen to start with.) As I understand it, the problem that we're trying to solve was initially one of license, and then secondly a reliability issue within the version of JISP being used. The license issue precludes upgrading the version of JISP used, and I wouldn't think that supporting the 2.51 version of JISP would be a particularly attractive idea :) Hopefully the various caching packages being looked at solve both problems. I think that a balanced btree implemented in a file system is the easiest/most efficient way to go. -- Stefano. ================================================================ CAUTION: This e-mail and any attachment(s) contains information that is intended to be read only by the named recipient(s).
