One last comment before this goes into the archives. :)
Even if you could get CouchDB listening on select ip/port configurations, it
may still make a lot of sense to stick CouchDB behind a proxy like Apache's
mod-proxy and have it do the ip/port listening. The Apache code has been
pounded on and patched over years and may isolate CouchDB from some low level
attacks.
