Thanks for all your feedback! I implemented the button to the left (right
besides the line number). As it is a button, there is minimal interference with
the editor and we can even keep the tooltip:
Tested on Chrome, FF, IE; suggestions and comments always welcome!
BTW: I merely added new code, the existing one is largely untouched
(showHideEditDoc... is a slight exception).
