Store XOR item counts in one word, reserving an unreachable count for unknown cardinality. Membership queries retain the empty-set check without unpacking an `Option`; the filter header shrinks from 56 to 48 bytes on 64-bit targets. The public optional-count API and serialized formats are unchanged. Existing tests cover known-empty filters, imported filters with unknown counts, and serialization compatibility.
