It will also result in quite a few current readers of this list no longer being able to follow discussions. There are quite a few who detest the forum format (I'm one - I fond them clunky and very difficult to use, and invariability very slow - Email has disadvantages, but IMO fora have even more. Unless there is some way of forwarding posts to the forum to the mailing list, and vice versa, then such a move is of very limited use or benefit (personally, I can't see any benefit). > Eventually I would like > to see the forum use a commercial forum software since many of these > add ons are overwritten by upgrades and they comeby default with the > commercial software packages. No way. That would be fodder for the anti-OSS crowd unfortunately, and IMO is another argument against forums. For support, forums are OK, since mot of those seeking support would be more familiar with the format. But for discussion, email (or Usenet newsgroups) is superior. BTW, this list is quite possibly mirrored on Usenet. either through Gmane or Google (possibly both). > > Thanks! > > Kieran Mullen -- Alex Fisher Co-Lead, CD-ROM Project OpenOffice.org Marketing Community Contact Australia/New Zealand http://distribution.openoffice.org/cdrom/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
