The most difficult part of editing the website is learning how to use CVS, and *that* is very different between different platforms. It is different because on each platform you'd be using a different program. On Unix and Linux you'd generally use the command-line 'cvs' command. But Windows doesn't come with that. So you'd have to use some GUI or another.
Thanks for the clarification! I'm starting from total ignorance, as you can tell. :-)

Part 14 of step (3) is platfrom-specific.
Thanks for that clarification also.
I figured that duplication was fine, on the basis that electrons are cheap. And I felt that each given user would be more confortable with a single set of documentation instead of having him jumping around.
Yes, that's a very good point, and I agree. Perhaps we need a starting page, with links to specific info for each platform? So the page isn't too long. (Thinking aloud here.)
Could we maintain the common info in one place and use some sort of include to display it in the 3 sets of instructions? I'm concerned about maintaining 3 copies of duplicated information... I always manage to forget to update one of the copies if changes need to be made.
Cheers, Jean
