Well consensus is that we need a setup guide for 2.x. Since we are in development stages, there is little we can document as yet for the final release but I would appeal to everyone on this list to try to put together an outline of what they think should go into it. I have opened http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=37513 for this purpose.

Hopefully we will catch all the topics that need covering by doing it
this way and the net result will be a setup guide that is ready when the
release arrives.

See the issue for a crude first draft. I say crude because getting good
install instructions from the various projects is proving difficult.
This difficulty I believe stems from the assumption that I have access
to a similar OS. I do not have anything but FC3 and XPpro so I'm a bit
stuck. So please help.

I'll have a proper look first think tomorrow, but in the meantime I would like to guide readers over to:

http://www.openoffice.org/dev_docs/instructions.html

We need these updated for 2.0 Beta - which is imminent.

Please can you especially check:

# Windows, Multiple User Environments
# Linux
# Packages for Linux Distributions
# File Associations

These may be starting off points for getting further with the 2.0 Setup Guide.

Regards
Jacqueline
