Officially, I'm a veterinarian who does acupuncture and a financial planner.
(Long story) I write how-to and all-about articles for pet owners, and I have
served as an editor for magazine and books aimed at the general public. So I
think I can help on documentation for people who aren't very
computer-knowledgeable.
Unofficially, my first computer was an Apple IIC, with floppy discs that really
were floppy and a black and green screen monitor. My first experience with the
internet was Compuserve, before the World Wide Web.
I don't find the process of helping out very clear. I think you could use a
little more generic "How to help" document. (Rather than saying "take a look
at this, see if you like that", I'd like to see "sign up for this forum in this
way: go to this page, do this, go to that address, do that to get on the
mailing list, this list is essential, that one isn't, here's the difference
between a forum and a mailing list, etc.) Once I figure out the steps a little
better, I'd be happy to work on this, if you think it's warranted.
