Officially, I'm a veterinarian who does acupuncture and a financial planner. (Long story) I write how-to and all-about articles for pet
owners, and I have served as an editor for magazine and books
aimed at the general public. So I think I can help on
documentation for people who aren't very computer-knowledgeable.
Unofficially, my first computer was an Apple IIC, with floppy discs that really were floppy and a black and green screen monitor. My first experience with the internet was Compuserve, before the World Wide Web.
I don't find the process of helping out very clear. I think you could use a little more generic "How to help" document. (Rather than saying "take a look at this, see if you like that", I'd like to see "sign up for this forum in this way: go to this page, do this, go to that address, do that to get on the mailing list, this list is essential, that one isn't, here's the difference between a forum and a mailing list, etc.) Once I figure out the steps a little better, I'd be happy to work on this, if you think it's warranted.
You certainly have an interesting collection of things you do!
Suggestions for improvements to this page (or any other) are
always welcome. I wrote that one in some haste. I think it has
been revised a bit by others, but I agree it could be better.
