Jean is right. Authors determine the spelling. As a Canadian, I use the
spelling with which I am familiar. Plus I found that most of these
spellings are in use around the world as in India, Australia, New
Zealand, South Africa and the UK. Also most Europeans are familiar with
this style of spelling thus making translations a bit easier.
Problem?
As a project, we try not to put too much strain on the author. There is
a basic style that we would like to see in contributions, but even that
is an "If you are trying to decide, here is something to help" type thing.
If there is an issue with a document for grammar or spelling, etc, then
it is pretty much a case by case basis and what makes sense.
Heck, I have been talking to people outside of USA for so long, I find
myself entering different spellings depending on who I am talking with
at the time. So much so, I doubt I could pick the "American" spelling
for most things. ;-)
