The original purpose of the Migration Guide is still valid and very
important, I think. That purpose was (and is) to provide a quick
reference for people who are familiar with, and use, MSO, but who are
moving (not necessarily voluntarily) to OOo. A quick reference set of
tables of how to do common tasks in OOo that they are used to doing in
MSO can be of great value to those people... and an encouragement to
whoever makes the decision to make the switch. To that end, I think we
need to maintain those tables. Whether the specific items on them are
the ones that need to be there is another matter; some important items
may be missing, while other items may be unnecessary because the
latest OOo and MSO may do things more similarly than past versons did.
Some of the members of the audience described above will also be
people who need (at least at times) to save docs in MSO formats,
including for the purpose of importing those MSO docs into some other
program. I agree with you that this situation needs to covered in the
MG... as long as the first purpose continues to be provided for.
