Hi Clayton,

I agree, its name should be Installation Guide. And that the guide
should cover some basic setup for a desktop installation. That would not
conflict with the Administration Guide.
Clayton can we arrange a small voting for this?
Do we need to vote? If the document is better named Installation Guide,
then do it. It is definitely what the document is, an installation
guide. i think that makes it considerably more clear what the document
(whether PDF, HTML, Wiki or whatever) actually is.
As we have heard no other thoughts, let's change the name to
Installation Guide. It's a much clearer name.
A few other comments from reading (and catching up on the discussion
here)...
Keep it simple... keep it clear. Don't clutter it up trying to cover
every possible scenario (as others here have also said). This document
needs to focus on the initial installation... how does a new user
install OOo in each of the major supported OSes. Peripheral info like
how to remove the Linux distro supplied version (which is well
documented for Ubuntu on the OOo User forum by the way), how to
configure for multi user installs etc., etc., should be in the
supplementary docs... in the Administration Guide, in the FAQs and so
on. This extra information can be referred to from the Installation
Guide (eg: If you would like to install OOo for mutliple users, please
see the Admin Guide <link>).
Yes, and I think that we have found the right topics to cover by
discussions on this ML.
