Commercial agreements are far more complex then we can think of , The space is vast and one party specifically wants to have all in one go , undermining the developers and community.
When we say like get some work one should get a draft of possible scenario that’s kinda of generic in terms of what openly everyone wants...it can be done by top level Apache guys but sadly they look pretty busy with other things . I mean like proposing some ideas and drafting them in functional piece and letting others know hey this is a feature we want and let volunteers chip on the other hand project look but centralised as of now only few members are making PR and the one doing in terms of functionality are doing for a specific need that does not cater to all. Developers like us also hit a road block because there is no clear roadmap on development lines so then creating an ambiguous term and task handed by commercial entity could lead to more frustration I clearly see this in my experience if you even write some lines of code for a feature there is no one who could or want to collaborate on those line Apache member keep sending git messages like is this done can we just get rid of this or close it . Seeing clients dropping out like that In reality we could follow a chart like a course where we can have some solid developers working only to figure out what needs to be incorporated in the product rather then client coming and saying we want this if they want they should purely use freelancing and bounty program out there and following the rigorous testing methodology. I mean off course the offer sounds great that I am ready to pay some amount , according to industry standards the current developers rate is 45 USD per hour or so it should be the base line if someone is willing to get it done and with IT in place . Hence I propose we should have restructuring in terms of someone wanting to introduce a new feature One could why this feature is needed and who is ready to work on talk to developers on the community directly and see if they align with or without commerce and once that is done involve Apache PMC and stuff and then make a plan and execute Rather then sending e-mail oh I want to have this feature just send it our way .
