I think at this point it makes much more sense to have hadoop-2.0.0-alpha as a
default. Now that, of course is Flume's project decision and as far as I'm
concerned that's what FLUME-1618 is all about (sans depending on yet to be
released HBase artifacts).
To the best of my knowledge the only active users of Hadoop 0.23.X code line
are a few folks at Yahoo!
