You are right. I haven't heard any complaints about that.
Re-reading the ODP (Orignial Dutch Post), the problem was someone on a different floor, who does have the same printer as someone else, but has a different default printer - on his own floor.

I know OOo keeps info about printer settings in the document file. To me that seems tricky or useless if no printer is stored.

So changing the behaviour described (apart from the priority given) will be difficult?

Not too difficult - the question is how to change it.

One possible solution is to compare the user name of the Office with the one set in the document. Own documents are then printed to the stored printer, the others are printed to the default printer.

We did something similar to the editing position.
