Thanks, I can live with that history :-) > > Is the intention that rc-2 will become the 0.9 release within a > > fixed > > time frame unless someone find a blocking bug, or will we see an > > rc-3 > > with more changes? > > Both :) > > The intention is that rc-2 will become the 0.9 release after an (as > yet unspecified) time period. And the reality is that we'll probably > do an rc-3. Let's see what bugs we end up finding and fixing. We are seeing a problem with the GPars documentation generation which primarily looks like it might be a Gradle dependency issue, but it could be Grails Doc or both. More news later this morning. > After this, I think we should switch to a more disciplined, time-boxed > release schedule. Maybe something like every 4 weeks. It really depends on what the goal, resources and work plan are. I would not go to such a rigid timeboxing just for the sake of it. Bazaar used to have rigid 4 week timing and whilst there was very rapid evolution that was fine. Now that things are more stable and evolution, whilst still happening, is happening at more leisure, a more relaxed approach with a 6 to 10 week timebox dependent on the current workplan, seems to be working very well. They of course are tied to the Ubuntu release schedule providing a 6 monthly super-timebox. -- Russel. ============================================================================= Dr Russel Winder t: +44 20 7585 2200 voip: sip:[email protected] 41 Buckmaster Road m: +44 7770 465 077 xmpp: [email protected] London SW11 1EN, UK w: www.russel.org.uk skype: russel_winder
