At the moment there are all in all about 740 slots with about 140 of them having at least two different implementations. One goal for the future is, of course, to reduce this second number and provide common implementations for each command.
Why? For example, many slots act fundamentally different when editing text in a shape, as opposed to selecting the whole shape. Having different implementation looks like the natural choice here, instead of a single one which then has to check the current state and do different things.
