Why? For example, many slots act fundamentally different when editing
text in a shape, as opposed to selecting the whole shape. Having
different implementation looks like the natural choice here, instead of
a single one which then has to check the current state and do different
things.
You are right, that is why I wrote 'reduce' and not 'eliminate'. We
will not be able to get rid of all shared slots, but there are
implementations which are very similar and thus can and should be
merged. Not only for avoiding technical problems but also to guarantee
similar behavior for one slot in different environments.
