Hi list-members,
I mentioned in a previous post that several users have had a problem
with revered parentheses in RTL slideshows in the distributed Windows
version of OOo 3.0. We've since found that if hardware acceleration is
turned off, the slideshows look ok. This was reported in the comments to
Issue 95259.
Other users have the problem that hardware acceleration causes blank
slides, as mentioned in Issue 89214. Sometimes adding Latin text to
the presentation causes the slide show to look ok.
Yesterday we built a Hebrew version of 3.0 for Windows, to see the
behavior in a Hebrew build. I found that I was getting blank slides.
However, I couldn't turn off hardware acceleration, because the option
wasn't there!
So...
1) If the version downloaded from the site has this option, why doesn't
it show up in my build? I don't see anything about this in the configure
settings. Does it depend on the hardware?
2) Is hardware acceleration on by default, even if the option does not
appear in the Tools/Options/View window?
3) Why should this affect RTL? By the way, users who have seen this
problem did not have it on 2.4

b) What is different between text display in normal view and text
display in the slide show that might cause this problem?
Hi Alan,
well, during slideshow, text is rendered from a metafile, so there
might indeed be a subtle difference in output device setup.
c) What changed between 2.4 and 3.0 that may have led to the new problem
with text display? We're talking about a new version of OOo on the same
machine, and this has been reported several times already.
I'm not aware of any change in slideshow - Herbert, any ideas about
vcl? This even sounds a bit like an uninitialized variable.
Cheers,
