Hi,

featurewise there are some things that spring to mind that OOo's PDF export is missing:

- PDF encryption, security features
- Accessible PDF (extending tagged PDF)
- optional linearized PDF (faster web access to pages)
- Viewer preferences (e.g. like page view mode)
- JBIG2 encoding for lineart graphics

If any one of these (or some other functionality that you personally miss) interest you, i'll gladly accept any patch sets yor create to add that functionality.

If you have any questions regarding PDF export (especially the PDFWriterImpl class), i'll be happy to help. Some of these features would involve new UI functionality in which case user experience group will have to enter the boat.

Kind regards, pl

Hi all,

I'm sending this message to this list because on the "to-dos" page in
the OOo site there was a general request for help on the PDF filtering
improvement.

From what I gathered browsing the issue list (I found the issue link
here: http://gsl.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=dev&msgNo=1509) it
seems that there are a lot of them, some started, others not.

Can I be of help ?

For the time being I only patched slightly the PDFWriterImpl class, in
order to obtain a different default behavior when opening the produced
PDF file (it seems only Acrobat Reader and Xpdf care about these
changes, anyway).

I'm bulding OOo on my own since version 1.1.0, first on Windows system,
now on Linux only.
Presently I'm building using the ooo-build wrapper on FC4.

Kind regards,
Giuseppe Castagno.
