Folks

I have a feeling that delaying 5.0 API freeze much longer does us
little good.

There is a vast group of people who (regrettably) will not touch
anything with BETA in its release version. We are unlikely to get
more
feedback unless we start slapping GA on 5.0 releases.

Is there anything realistically blocking us from freezing the 5.0
APIs?

Though, I have again missed my goals (tickets), but that's purely my
problem.

I'd push GA and see what happens. One can still produce 6.0 quite
quickly if we notice that the API isn't as good as we intended it to
be.

5.0 APIs are not going to be frozen immediately but there is no point
delaying the freeze indefinitely.

Do you have a particular time frame for 5.0 related work you would
comfortable committing yourself to?

Hmm..given that we have another new inhouse REST API on Tomcat and several developers are using HttpClient for communication they will be soon forced to authenticate via SPNEGO which they haven't because I have provided an anonymous deployment for testing purposes up until now and they didn't care about the authenticated one.

I will raise this fact next week in our team meeting and see how we can prioritize that because I will disable the anonymous API calls without any remorse.
