I love the idea of a new logo and already like some of the proposed
designs. I love that you love our existing stuff and I'm as resistant to
change as the next guy, but the way we spell iBATIS and the logo are dated,
are less professional than I (for one) would like them to be ---- and
they're uuuugly. :-)

I agree that we shouldn't cut over like tomorrow with a new one. But
perhaps we can start to use him as our mascott and eventually turn him into
our logo.

Companies and software launch new brands all the time. Perhaps we could
launch a new site, logo, mascott and brand with iBATIS 3.0?

Remember when Larry suggested that I change the colour scheme of the
original iBATIS site-- black background with bright pink and green...I
believe he referred to it as a "Save Kevin (as in Mitnick)" colour scheme!

Thank god we changed back then.... ;-)

Sorry to be the naysayer here. But, why are we spending time on a logo? Is
the one we have not enough brand recognition? Do we really need a cute
little bird to give our product that extra WOW? Personally, I don't think
so. The iBATIS logo as it stands is great. If we really want to make a
visual impact towards professionalism, I think we'd do well to identify who
we are trying to market to and gear the site to address those audiences.
Seems to me that we discuss the site design every 6 months or so. I would
just caution that we avoid making the site an expression of our current
favorite design trend and more about what the market would find useful and
attractive. If we want to change the site again, then lets make it sparkle
_for the users_ and then be satisfied with it for a long while.

Should we launch a discussion on who the site for? Developers, CTOs,
Managers, etc? How do we feel these different groups would perceive iBATIS
if they visited for the first time?
