Thank you for volunteering Anurag and Anoop.
Lucky number 13 would be awesome. My wish list would be to add JDK25 support.
At the very least we should aim to get the https://github.com/apache/iceberg/issues/17959 Spark 4.2 items before deciding on supporting Spark 4.2 in 1.13 or any other release. If there are items outside of this tracking issue, we should bring them in one place. I understand releasing late in the year can be difficult, but I feel like it's a little early to be discounting a release by the end of the year.
Not every release needs to be large and there were a number of things that didn't quite make the cutoff, so I'd like to keep the option open for discussion.

Hi, Xin -

That sounds good to me.
Hi Anoop,
Thanks for starting this discussion and for volunteering to manage the 1.13 release.
Alongside the V4 work, one open question is whether 1.13 should support Spark 4.2 (as Anurag mentioned and actually this is also in my wish list :-)). The PR to set up Spark 4.2 has been merged (thanks, Manu!), but publishing is currently skipped. If we do include Spark 4.2 support in 1.13, we should decide on the scope. My strawman proposal is to support existing Iceberg functionality on Spark 4.2 and treat integration with new Spark features, such as the Transactional API, as best effort.
Happy to hear what the community thinks and help here.
Thanks Xin
Hi Anoop,
Thanks for your interest in being the release manager. I have already volunteered for the 1.13 release, but please feel free to take on the 1.14 release.
We should start planning the scope for 1.13. I was thinking of early next January as we are moving into the holiday season. My wish list for this release includes the V4 spec PR and some related early work and Spark 4.2 suppport.

With the closure of 1.12 (thanks Neelesh!), I'd like to open a discussion on 1.13. I think we'd like to get another release out before the end of the year and include some of the early work on V4 as we're making good progress.
I'd like to volunteer to be release manager for 1.13 and keep this discussion going.
Best, Anoop
