I don't know if you are interested, but one area I feel we could use a
lot of help is with the Fuseki user interface.  I was hoping a student
would want to do a GSOC project for it but unfortunately we didn't get
any applications for it.  There are a good number of details in the
JIRA [1].  In my opinion this would be a great place to get started
with Jena, because it does not require in-depth knowledge of the the
internals, but it does expose you do a wide surface area of the
project.

But this being your initiative, feel free to jump in anywhere else
that you would like.  We are certainly around to assist!
