Can we really? It seems like 1.8.7 is almost entirely additive, and in
all the Q/A sessions over email and at conferences nobody has been
able to point out incompatibilities in 1.8.7. I think it's a myth.
At any rate, let's just do it on master and see what happens. We've
decided to go for it either way, and if we do find something that
breaks we can report it to Matz & co.
Make sure you're comparing with the most current 1.8.7 patchlevel, btw.
