I have heard that files produced from Rosetta are copyrighted by
Canonical. Is it true?
There have been discussions about similar topics on the mailinglist.
As far as I understood, the copyright is not handed over to canonical,
it is the same as in the originial software and stays the
translator's.
"In addition, the translator grants to Canonical Ltd the right to publish
the translation and use the translation in other software packages under
their license."
So this means that translators using this are effectively allowing
Canonical to do what they want to do with their work (even using it in
closed source stuff). This could be unacceptable for some teams.
We have no problems with that, if this interpretation is true at all.
Because it basically allows them to publish the translations with
their *Ubuntu distributions. I have also signed your paper long ago,
allowing Sun to use my translations for "closed source stuff" like
Star Office.

The file has passed gsicheck. I will rename it accordingly. The
informations on http://l10n.openoffice.org/languages.html are correct,
