It seems there are already several suggestions here. I'll add mine:

If you have the SDF file (hopefully provided by someone else) you can
convert to PO files using the translate toolkit [0]. It also has a tool
called pocompendium [1] that can create one big combined file of all the
PO files, while stripping an accelerator. It can convert everything to
lower case (perhaps useful), although its original purpose is more along
the lines of building a TM and checking it for quality. The resulting PO
file can then be converted to text using po2txt (also in the toolkit).
You then might want to do some extra processing like removing tags, etc.

The merit of this approach is that you can do this for any set of PO
files. You can add everything in the Mozilla translations, GNOME, KDE,
etc.  pocomendium can strip the accelerator for any of these projects.

I hope this suggestion is useful for some people.
