Hi. this is the first time ever that i subscribed to a mailing list, so pardon any ethical considerations i fail to meet.
I discovered OOo after reformatting my notebook and finding out that i didn't have a productivity suite (it was second hand), i've been loving it, and, recommending it, ever since. i'm an end-user... no IT knowledge whatsoever (psychologist), except setting up and fixing some settings in ubuntu (mostly problems of my own doing). most recently, the installation of tl_PH.dic on fiesty fawn. i got it working now, but under a different language name (English South Africa), as noted in issues 76233, 75782, and the thread i had posted in the forums (lost track of the sources already). but i'm glad that it's coming out in 2.3 (correct me if i'm wrong) i subscribed to this mailing list after being emailed, soon after replying to one of the issues above. i am interested in further development of the tagalog dictionary - well the only contribution i could make is to include more words that are not currently included in the .dic file. i tried to add words manually by editing the .dic file, but realized that this would be too cumbersome when including long lists of tagalog words (only tried it once... lol) one other complication regarding the tagalog language are hyphenated words (read one thread about this already... i'll search again) which should be considered as one word: "pag-aaral" (education or studying) should be checked as one word and not "pag" and then "aaral" i'm probably missing out on previous discussions about the topic, but i will try to catch up as much as i can. i hope someone could direct me on how to contribute to the expanding of the tl_PH vocabulary. i am not familiar about how development in IT goes about, so pardon me once more. thanks and may OOo further spread the love... :) ...and ODF be the declared the ISO standard already. _________________________________________________________________ Get the new Windows Live Hotmail! http://www.discoverhotmail.com/Hotmail/Default.aspx?Locale=en-PH#2
