Everyone. All the English dictionaries are based on an old version of the Aspell dictionary. And has many problems with it. The latest version corrects almost all the problems. Aspell dictionaries are based on SCOWL which is a combination of several high quality word lists available on the net. The end results is a very high quality and complete word list. The word lists are currently available in several spellings (en_US, en_GB with -ise spelling, en_GB with -ize spelling, and en_CA). The only possible problem with the en_GB and en_CA dictionaries is that they may be missing locale specific words and common place names. Something with I will be willing to correct provided someone provides me with suitable lists.
The Aspell English dictionary is available at http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/aspell/dict/en/. In order to view the word lists you will need the prezip-bin or word-list-compress utility distributed with Aspell. A script is included which will generate the word list from the SCOWL source which is available at http://wordlist.sourceforge.net/. I strongly suggest that the OO dictionaries are resynced with the latest version of the Aspell dictionaries. -- http://kevin.atkinson.dhs.org --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
