yeah which means I'm up shit creek without a paddle
at least I know more or less where the problem is.
I've attached the guilty page (hope I can do this). can anyone help me with
a quick workaround?

Basically, pre CFMX 6+ you couldn't nest CFOUTPUT tags, but in CFMX6+ you
could.
The only reason you're getting this error is that your live website must be
running on a prior version of ColdFusion.
Do you know what version of CF is running on (1) your live server (2) on
your dev server?
The only way to fix this is to remove the nested CFOUTPUTs.
