Rich, the answer is yes providing that: 1) The directory is available on the same network and addressable as \\server\directory 2) The account that CF is running under has been given enough permissions to read/list/write/delete from the directory
E.g. I have a CF app that uses cfdirectory on a different LAN but the network has been set up to trust other domains within the same WAN. The UNC is \\webserver01\exchange\. CF runs under an account called cf_webserver01 and the shared folder has been given r/w/l/d permissions for the cf_webserver01 account. Of course if you don't need to write or delete files then you only need to give it read and list permissions. HTH. Gary. On 6/13/06, Alex Skinner <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:

Another option might be to create youself either a webservice running on that box to interact with or you could create yourself a simple http page which brings back xml for your other server to work with, certainly would be simpler to setup. Check out simpleviewer by air tight interactive which works with XML www.airtightinteractive.com/simpleviewer/ Alex -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of RichL Sent: 03 April 2006 17:53 To: cfdev Subject: [CF-Dev] CFDirectory on a non-cfserver >- see footer for list info -< I am highly doubtful this is possible but thought I'd ask... is it possible to use anything like cfdirectory (or anything to achieve the same ends) to retrieve the number of files and the names of all files on a completely separate , non-CF server under a different host? I want to create a small photo album type thing with navigation through pictures but the content is all held on a completely separate server to the cf based host server -- Rich _______________________________________________ For details on ALL mailing lists and for joining or leaving lists, go to http://list.cfdeveloper.co.uk/mailman/listinfo -- CFDeveloper Sponsors:- >- Hosting provided by www.cfmxhosting.co.uk -< >- Forum provided by www.fusetalk.com -< >- DHTML Menus provided by www.APYCOM.com -< >- Lists hosted by www.Gradwell.com -< >- CFdeveloper is run by Russ Michaels, feel free to volunteer your help >-< _______________________________________________ For details on ALL mailing lists and for joining or leaving lists, go to http://list.cfdeveloper.co.uk/mailman/listinfo -- CFDeveloper Sponsors:- >- Hosting provided by www.cfmxhosting.co.uk -< >- Forum provided by www.fusetalk.com -< >- DHTML Menus provided by www.APYCOM.com -< >- Lists hosted by www.Gradwell.com -< >- CFdeveloper is run by Russ Michaels, feel free to volunteer your help -<
