If you pass variables on the end of the URI for the swf, eg:-

<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000"
codebase="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,0,0";
width="462" height="142"
id="/assets/movies/portfolio.swf?myVar=myValue" align="middle">
<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" />
<param name="movie" value="/assets/movies/portfolio.swf" />
<param name="wmode" value="transparency" />
<param name="quality" value="high" />
<embed src="/assets/movies/portfolio.swf" quality="high" width="462"
height="142" name="/assets/movies/portfolio.swf?myVar=myValue"
align="middle" allowscriptaccess="sameDomain"
type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer";
wmode="transparency" />
</object>

then the variables will be available before the first frame in your
flash movie, remember that variable names in Flash are case sensitive.
It is really easy believe me!

We are building a site that displays Movies.

The page that displays the Flash movies is the same page on each
occasion with the movie to be called in the Flash player depending
on the host URL.

We need to protect some content by having it on a streaming server
and some we are happy to let Flash stream using http as the content
does not need protecting.

We want to use the same player and simply call it on the page by
passing it the variables for the web URL where the flv file is deployed.

Does anyone have an FLa file that is an example of how to do
this. Or can offer any suggestions where one might find something.

We have files deployed on three different web servers. One is a
shared Flash streaming server (expensive) the other two are simply
high bandwidth servers.

We are still trialling some of these so if anyone has any good
experiences to report on Flash streaming services please let me know.

Thanks again

Gordon
