Thanks for your reply, and also to Kola.

Its a brand new install of CF (6.1) with only one application with only 100
visitors a day.
This application uses the same template as I have used for other sites so
probably not CF.

Will look into
http://coolskool.blog-city.com/random_collection_of_cfmx_performance_tuning_resources.htm

Thanks again
Allan

  Subject: [cfug-lists] Re: [CF-Dev] JVM / Jrun

  Allan,

JVM is the Java Virtual Machine, and it is the core Java engine that executes
every Java bytecode inside your server.
Jrun is CF's built-in Application Server, JRun "runs" under the JVM, and what
it does, in fact, is to interpret the cfml/java code and provide the necessary
services and communication layer between the web server and the JVM.

Your memory problems may be attenuated by "tuning" your JVM settings, you do
this by setting start up parameter in the \\Jrun\bin\jvm.config file, but I
recommend you caution on doing this in production.

Memory problems in CF are, most of the time, correlated to CFML coding.
Look for queries that return huge amount of data, or irrestrict use of
session/application variables, for a start.

Could someone simple explain the difference between JVM and Jrun and what
each does.

I have a server where Jrun is eating up all the memory.

    Thanks
    Allan
