Yep, thats it exactly.. it all stems from the install. If you have the
installer running for a vanilla Windows install, and you change it in there
then its all cool...

If you change it afterwards via the Control Panel, it looks like its changed
but it hasnt... Its one of those "Microsoft has confirmed this a problem
with Windows..." blah de blah blah de blah.....

best bet is to append the yourself ...

Didn't know that, think that explains a problem I had a while ago, so
If you set locale in CF although it may tell you its changed it hasn't?

Thats what I mean... the bug in Windows is this... if you install
Windows
and accept all the normal default for locale and THEN change after the
install to anothetr Locale... it does not seem to stick the changes.

On one machine I had to re-install and make sure that I set it to UK at
the
install screen and not after installation complete...luckily the machine
was
just built

Is it a Windows box? There is a bug in Windows (and apparently, CF5)
which,
if you have not set the correct locale during install of the OS (you
cant
change it after install.. Windows ignores it for some reason?).

We've inherited a cfsite where amounts are being output using the
lscurrencyformat() function

trouble it's outputting the a $ before the amount, using getlocale()
confirms that the locale is English (UK), anyone got any idea why its a
dollar and not a pound sign

thanks
Mark
