Sounds like a "meeting" - I am Lisa and I am a geek (grin)

Thanks for all your comments Justin - they all make sense - the server was
configured here, but data was dumped via FTP from Ft Detrick - I don't mean
to sound like a dummy (geek) but I am, in essence already trying to rebuild
the box on another server as a fail-safe, and figured it I used the 2nd as a
mirror I might be better off - after the 1st of the year we are looking into
racks, but we are not there yet, and I am trying the CYA route for now...

Cheers,

Lisa

Yes.

This is called "hot standby". Only windows2000 Advanced server has this
built in.
SQL Server 2000 works with Windows NT and Windows 2000 failover clustering
to support immediate failover to a backup server in continuous operation.

> Also, I can get a PKI certificate for the 2nd one so that I can use https

Yes you can , you can but one cert of both using Thawte, or 2 certs from
verisign
However whichever you choose the ssl session will be restarted id a session
started on one box ends up on the other box...

overall: you might want to think about this setup more. You will get better
performance using 1 box as a SQL server and the other as your Web/IIS/CF
box.

2 boxs * 98.x% uptime might be better than 1 x 99.x% uptime....

Its always a trade off...

Justin
