I agree in part, but suspect that Macromedia want to raise developers' awareness of what Flash is capable, and perhaps do the same for CF and Flash designers. They clearly want Flash to become the de facto rich client and need developers to realise that they've now made Flash into a very capable application. I guess selling to existing customers, especially when they are a captive audience, was very tempting for them.
